LASM partner church, Timothy Lutheran, is hosting its annual scrap metal drive. Come and drop off your scrap metal anytime during the month of April! It can be deposited in the large storage container on Timothy’s parking lot at the corner of Ivanhoe and Fyler.
LASM is hosting an important and timely Lunch & Learn on Thursday, April 25th at noon. Our guest speaker will be Community Service Officer, Gary Baldridge. Officer Baldridge will give insights on how to identify scams and tips for protecting yourself from fraud and identity theft.
The City of St. Louis has enacted a Senior Citizen Property Tax Freeze. Eligible seniors may apply for the credit annually through the City of St. Louis Assessor’s Office.
On Wednesday, April 17th from 10 am til noon you can make a 15-minute appointment with an LASM staff member or volunteer to apply for the freeze.

We are seeking $100 round sponsors and donations of raffle items (i.e. gift cards, event tickets, etc.). All proceeds will benefit the care and coordination of our core services: Saturday Servants, medical transportation, Stephen Ministry, case management, social engagement, educational programming and this monthly newsletter.

Learn the alluring history of this gift from the rain forest, discover how it is cultivated and processed, and then consider ways to take your chocolate addiction into your garden with “chocolate” plants. Our guest speaker will be St. Louis Master Gardener, Betsy Alexander. Following the presentation, we will carpool or caravan to the Chocolate, Chocolate, Chocolate Factory on The Hill for tours and gift shop shopping.

LASM is participating in Give STL Day, a city-wide day of giving to support nonprofit organizations serving the region. This year LASM is directing its Give STL Day funds to a special Home Repair Fund. The funding will assist low-income seniors in affording necessary home safety modifications and repairs...an incredible opportunity to help older adults maintain their independence and improve their living conditions.

LASM is offering you a chance to view City Foundry STL which opened in August 2021 in the center of Midtown, St. Louis! The $220 million project took the former 15-acre Century Electric Foundry complex and made it home to St. Louis’ first food hall, a 30,000 sq. ft grocery store, a 10 screen movie theater, creative office space, and much more.
City Foundry is only one project of exciting redevelopment happening in the Midtown neighborhood. Come to a special presentation to hear about all that is in store for the 400 acre area from the Executive Director of the St. Louis Midtown Redevelopment Corporation, Brooks Goedeker.
Following his presentation, we’ll hop on a bus to head to the City Foundry for lunch and exploration. At the Foundry’s Food Hall you’ll have a variety of food options to choose from as local chefs share their culinary masterpieces. A fair amount of walking will be involved. Lunch seating arrangements are picnic-style tables and high-top tables.
Wednesday, May 18th, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Meeting location: Southwest Baptist Church. One hour presentation in Memorial Hall before loading the bus. $10/person covers program coordination and transportation. Lunch meal selected and paid for on-site.
